JOB TITLE Network Engineer
PREFFERED START DATE
CONTRACT LENGTH 6 months
PAY RATE £500 Outside IR35
LOCATION 5 days per week on-site (Based in Bristol)
ROLE/RESPONSILBILITES
The network comprises approximately 1,600 network Switches and 3500+ Wireless Access Points spread over approximately 400 buildings. This 'Edge Network' has user equipment directly connected to it (such as PCs, printers, Building Management Systems, Security devices and CCTV Cameras). To be responsible, working closely with other members of the team and being guided by more senior members, for the installation, configuration, management, support, and operation of wired and wireless networks and the services and devices that run on it, including its links to JANET (Joint Academic Network), UHBristol, and NBHT, undertaking the wide variety of work that is associated with this. Actively identify areas of the network that need improvement and drive forward these changes. Initiating, planning and implementing network changes driven by internal (IT Services) and external (Estates projects) to specified deadlines.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE REQUIRED
Router/Switch configuration Delivery of network changes within a project context.
2nd line troubleshooting of network issues received via ticketing system Documenting/Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
Full/Clean Driving License eg CCNA or equiv, ITIL knowledge (Change Management, Incident Management)
