Linux/Unix Administrator

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires a Linux/Unix Administrator to be based in their client's office in Barnwood Warrington. You might be able to work some days remotely.

This is a 3-Month temporary contract to start ASAP

Day rate: Competitative Market rate

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Linux/Unix Servers, Configure Operating Systems on Azure Platform
  • Linux Administrator is responsible to provide end to end Support in Linux Operating environment
  • Configure Networking on new Servers (VNET, Define Firewall Rules. Etc )
  • Configuration, installation and maintenance of a variety of test and production Servers such as Application and Database Servers concepts
  • Creating and documenting the systems configuration and operations;
  • Provide general technical assistance as required in the software and hardware diagnostics across Linux/Unix Based Operating Systems

Key Requirements

  • 6+ years' relevant experience
  • Good understanding on Firewall Rules and Networking
  • Significant experience in Building and managing Linux Operating System on Azure Platform
  • Hands on Experience in OS Hardening and remediating Vulnerabilities
  • A strong background in installing, configuring and using free software/open source packages
  • Proven experience with Firewall and networking technologies;
  • Significant experience in using and programming Unix shells;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of team;
  • Excellent organization skills eg, ability to priorities and multi task and complete the project within defined timescales.
  • Willingness to perform system maintenance out of working hours
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Willingness to learn and develop personal skills
  • Should be ready to work in shift and out of hours (based on project requirement)
  • Should be ready for on-call (ROTA Basis)

With Client

Establish and maintain excellent relationship with customer stakeholders and develop processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness for the client as an on-going basis;

With Line Manager/Senior Stakeholders

Maintain regular contact with Line Manager/Senior Stakeholders to update and appraise them on critical business issues and data points;

With Offshore Teams

Maintain regular contact with required Offshore teams as and when required to update them on current issues and decisions, seeking support for issues that affect the success of the contracts on-going deliverables as and when required;

With Peers

Develop and maintain positive relationships with other business partners, both internal and external, ensuring best practice advice is shared and maximum efficiency achieved.

With Others

Effectively and professionally, communicate regularly with all functional teams and other parts of the company as required in the proper performance of such duties by regularly sharing information and building positive relationships to help achieve business goals and objectives within the account. Building positive relationships with external contacts to maximize efficiency and to represent the business in a professional manner at all times.
