Mechanical Fitter
Contract- 3 months
Salary- £17 p/hour
Hours- 38 hours + overtime
Location- Castle Bromwich, Birmingham

We have partnered with an industry leading Automation business to find a Mechanical Fitter with experience working within the Automation Industry, this individual's key role will be to build and functionally develop feed systems and special purpose machinery within an agreed timeframe to design specification. For a candidate to be successful within the application process for this role, they must have the following qualities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

To take care of their own personal health and safety, be mindful of the health and safety of colleagues and inform management of any situations they perceive may be hazardous if unaddressed.
To maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
To adhere to the Quality Management System and associated policies, processes and procedures.
Mechanically assemble machinery to general arrangement drawings.
Install and plumb pneumatic elements of machinery.
Support electrical engineers with fitting of cable tray, feeding cables etc, where required.
To work to communicated timeframes against project milestones.
Participate in design reviews when requested to feedback thoughts and concerns to design prior to build.
To raise any concerns regarding parts supply or specification with management and design.
Take machines beyond the point of power on, through initial running and develop them into a fully functioning piece of production equipment in line with works order requirements.
Suggest any potential modifications to machine construction to improve/achieve required performance.
Detail any part modifications undertaken to feed back into the design change process.
Attend customer site for installation, commissioning and/or service visits when required.

Required Skills:

Has demonstrable experience of having worked practically in a mechanical build/assembly environment.
The ability to read engineering drawings, general arrangement drawings and pneumatic schematics, and to build to these drawings.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to work under one's own initiative as well as with a team.
Comfortable with and confident in the use of hand and power tools.
The ability to build industrial machinery to engineering drawings.

Desired Skills:

NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
Experience working with ISO 9001 QMS
The ability to develop industrial machinery from power on to final test.
Has demonstrable experience of having worked in the feeding and handling, automation or special purpose machinery industries.
An awareness of common electrical componentry used on industrial machinery, as well as its functionality.
