Technical Operations Manager

Location: Home based/Remote with travel to offices in Nottinghamshire as required

Market Day Rate - Inside IR35

An interim Technical Operations Manager is required by our leading financial services client in the East Midlands to start before Christmas.

The successful candidate will have excellent experience managing IT engineering teams (complete One-on-One meetings, coaching and development of a team etc.).

Strong people management skills are essential for this role; and you do not have to be hands on technically.

Role responsibilities:

  • A core member of the IT Management team with specific responsibility for technical infrastructure
  • You will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the computing Estate
  • Manage the provision of operational, design and service delivery capability for the organisation
  • Lead a team of technical Managers to design, develop and maintain new and existing systems
  • Develop and mentor a team of Infrastructure Engineers to ensure best practice is followed and to manage the team's processes, personnel needs and development plans.
  • Development of technical roadmaps and solutions underpinning the organisations strategic aims.
  • Resource management including scheduling and allocation according to business priorities, by working closely with the relevant IT Project Managers, team leaders and stakeholders
  • Provide expertise to create technical documentation from Functional and Non-Functional specifications through to technical test plans and IT change control, working closely with team leaders and other service functions
Ideal experience:
  • Strong people management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Experience of mentoring, and developing technical team members
  • A drive for continually evolving technological environments in line with best practice
  • Experience in the secure management of infrastructure and technical operations across a wide range of computer hardware, networks, Cloud environments, telephony, storage and system software especially relating to the Microsoft Azure, O365, Windows, Meraki, Unix/Linux and End User Computing environments
  • Good understanding of current best practice specially related to Microsoft Azure, Automation, Networking, and security principles
