Role: Linux Architect
Location: Remote
Duration: 3 months
Rate: £600 per day via umbrella company

Job Description

  • Proven track record providing design and consultancy for transformation/transitioning projects
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure components: hardware (storage, bare metal, networking) as well as virtualization (VMware)
  • Ability to design and create product descriptions for tooling such as OS patching, monitoring and AV agents.
  • An appreciation of how secure multi-tenancy can be provided on DC IAAS services
  • Ability to extract business requirements and translate into a technical solution. Must take into consideration how the deliverable will be managed going forward
  • Design and delivery experience of enterprise grade storage for both block and file based services
  • Attention to detail is key for when producing LLDS and future delivery into support.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Linux/Unix SME should have a minimum experience level of 2 years, with evidence of exposure to Linux/Unix projects during this time
  • Practical experience in Linux Server (Components, OS configuration, license, troubleshooting)
  • Deploying Linux/Unix solutions on private and public clouds
  • Experience of Hyperconverged and Hybrid Architecture is desirable
  • Shell Scripting experience
  • Experience of authenticating Linux user access using Active Directory
  • Experience with clustering on Unix and Linux platforms
  • Experience with automation tools such as chef, ansible, puppet is desirable
  • Experience of migration of virtual workloads between VMware Hypervisors using third party tooling
  • Understanding of Oracle and Databases would be an advantage
