ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
A globally leading Naval/Defence company are on the market for an Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join them on a long-term contract basis, based in Bristol!
- 12 month contract (view to extend)
- £56 per hour (Inside IR35)
- Hybrid remote, based in Bristol
THE PROJECT
As an Electrical Control Systems Engineer you would produce controls design specifications and subsequent implementations of the designs for use in a range of products that are installed on a variety of naval vessels worldwide.
- Requirements elicitation and management with verification and validation.
- Systems engineering of the specification and detailed functional design of a naval automation/autonomy control system.
- Specification of automation and control hardware and software for integration and interfacing to ship systems.
- Implementation of fieldbus controls protocols/interfacing
- Implementing configuration management, change control and reporting within a multidisciplinary team
- The modification of high integrity electronics, PLCs or I/O hardware
SKILLS REQUIRED
The successful Control Systems Engineer would ideally have a background in naval, maritime or military applications, with the following knowledge:
- Understanding of full life cycle project delivery within a complex manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of power management systems
- Systems Engineering, Validation and Verification experience
- Design/Make Supplier liaison
- Electric Motors and Control
- Control systems (Scada or PLC)
- Desirable if have a knowledge of marine classification regulations (DNV-GL, Lloyds, ABS) and Installation and commissioning experience of control systems
(Direct naval or military system knowledge would be an advantage but a systems engineering and process driven approach to control system software design is considered more important than specific domain knowledge)
