Job Title: 3rd Line IT Infrastructure Engineer - Formula 1 client
Location: Northamptonshire - Fully Onsite
Salary/Rate: up to £500 per day INSIDE IR35
Start Date: 10/04/23
Job Type: 6 Month Contract - Likely Extension

Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity now available with a leading Formula 1 client!

They are currently looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer with extensive 3rd line or infrastructure engineering experience.

They are looking for candidates who are sharp, quick-witted and Dynamic. Someone who has a genuine interest in Formula 1, Engineering or Motorsport. Who can embed into the company culture and settle for a long-term contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

The role will support the existing 3 Infrastructure engineers working in the IT Engineering team, and main responsibilities will cover:

Server based security vulnerability remediation; patching and specific vulnerability based configuration hardening

System upgrades; several inflight upgrades require additional Virtual infrastructure commissioning and configuring in line with system requirements

New system commissioning; installation and configuration of new systems, currently working on Artifactory, Mendix, Spotfire

Experience deploying similar systems (technical engineering system purchased from 3rd parties) from scratch, ie greenfield system deployment end to end.

These roles requires the ability to deliver on both operational and project activities, against deadlines and SLAs. Thus, flexibility is essential in this position. Applicants must be able to occasionally provide out-of-hours maintenance and support on a best-efforts basis

    • Required Skills/Experience

  • A 3rd Line or Infrastructure Engineer role for a minimum of 3 years
  • Delivering exceptional customer service under pressure
  • Operational support at a senior technical level, within a medium to large sized enterprise
  • Planning, organising, leading, and delivering complex, fast-moving workloads with both internal and external 3rd party resources
  • Working to recognised methodologies ie (ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile)
  • A broad range of technical experience within a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Supporting junior colleagues via mentoring, training, and documentation
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Prioritisation and self-management
  • Design, implementation and support of enterprise applications, Middleware, and infrastructure
  • Support and optimisation of in-house and bespoke applications
  • Adapting to change, learning quickly in a fast passed environment

    • Demonstrate knowledge

  • High Performance Computing and Computer-aided technologies (CAx)
  • Enterprise application, Middleware, and infrastructure technologies
  • Database support, administration, and optimisation
  • Scripting, orchestration, and automation techniques
  • Capacity, performance, and availability monitoring
  • Security, vulnerability, and malware threat prevention

    • Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Motorsport, OEM automotive or engineering background
  • Testbed and simulation platforms
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • ITIL v3 foundation level
