ResponsibilitiesProviding commentary on daily and monthly Revenue and Balance Sheet
Reviewing material new deals on a daily basis, explaining: factors driving profitability, accounting and regulatory treatment, and credit and market risk
Testing the balance sheet value of the trading portfolio, with reference to independent market data - Independent Price Verification
Assisting in month end close, including balance sheet netting, valuation adjustments, disclosures and reclassifications
Calculating valuation adjustments & reserves, investigation, challenge and commentary on movements
Involvement in coordinating SOX deliverables
Regulatory reporting e.g. Volcker
Involvement in new product reviews / new systems testing
Liaising with Accounting Policy team as required
Identifying and executing opportunities to improve/ enhance processes and reporting
Interacting extensively advisor with other groups outside of Finance e.g. Front Office, COO, Risk, Internal Audit and Operations.
Acting as a valued Business Advisor and meeting regularly with Front Office to present typically P&L, IPV results and Balance Sheet usage
Interacting with Front Office on regular revenue forecasting
Resolution of ad-hoc queries from the Business and other Finance groups
Requirements
Strong Academics - 2:1 min + 300 UCAS Points
Only Qualified / part qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) will be considered ( Including Exam Exemptions)
Demonstrable interest in the financial markets / trading business, accounting standards, risk and valuation
Demonstrable risk identification and management
Previous financial services experience desirable but not essential as appropriate training will be provided
Strong Excel skills with the ability to build and use spreadsheets
Excellent communication skills, collaborative mind-set and ability to influence others
