Conversion Manager

A Production or Manufacturing Manager is wanted to join a large international company for their offices east of Leeds, to take responsibility for the development and delivery of a world class manufacturing site. Ideally looking for someone with a background in FMCG, automotive industry or equivalent, you will be a change agent who understands the link between challenging and coaching.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will need to be creative and bring innovative ideas to the role in order to maximise output. It is essential you have excellent people skills to get your ideas across to consistently improve the overall efficiency of the company in all areas.

Your Role
  • Coordination of daily improvement activities to ensure continued reduction of the seven (LEAN) wastes.
  • Creation of process maps and identification of major improvement opportunities.
  • Prioritisation of problems to develop our competitive advantage.
  • Support the development of a culture which promotes daily problem elimination, whilst devising and implementing improvements to systems, methods and procedures.
  • Promote lean manufacturing principles (TPM, SMED, 5S, DMAIC, improvement teams)
  • Develop employees through awareness programmes of the Lean Toolkit.
  • Measure and provide key metrics for both internal and external customers.
  • Introduce and implement Standard Work Routines and Best Practice.
  • Introduce Root Cause Analysis as a daily tool.
  • Manage change programmes through employee communication, involvement and engagement.


About You
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Green Belt or equivalent
  • Strong People management skills
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Exposure to change management processes
  • Communication/briefing skills
  • Structured Problem solving skills
  • Numerical /Verbal reasoning skills at management norm
  • Ability to demonstrate how our corporate values will be applied in the workplace: Caring, Challenging, Trusted, Responsive and Tenacious
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification
  • Evidence of continuous learning and development during career
  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment
