European Sales Manager


The client is a world leader in process environmental control equipment and this division is a world leader in refrigeration systems for wine cellars in everything from small residential cellars, commercial cellars or large wine storage facilities.

As the European Sales Manager, you will represent the firm and act as a local focal point for all sales and marketing initiatives in Europe. The European Sales Manager is responsible for increasing sales and profitability of wine preservation systems in Europe by working with existing distributors to increase business, prospecting for and adding new distributors, and generating alternate channels of distribution such as refrigeration wholesalers and DIY (Do It Yourself) retailers.

The firm is willing to hire someone from anywhere in Europe and initially they are focusing on Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy although they are flexible at this stage. It is more important to find the right person and the location is flexible.

You won’t necessarily be home based and they are willing to invest in some office space. We’re also working through the question of compensation at this time so the salary is completely open and flexible and depends on your experience and what you can bring to the job.
Responsibilities

40% – Communicates with existing distributors on product attributes, prices, lead times, and selections. 20% – Identifies and recruits new distributors in target markets
Evaluates and establishes distribution through new channels including refrigeration wholesalers, DIY stores, on-line retailers, and others
Provides local customer service and administration functions including order entry, order confirmation, establishing credit limits, warranty administration, and tax administration
Develop and maintain a thorough, comprehensive knowledge of Client’s products, services, pricing strategy and competition. Conduct initial and follow-up visits to prospects and current distributors primarily at prospects’/distributors’ place of business
Represent the company at trade and/or association meetings and shows to generate sales leads and promote Client’s products
Prepare weekly reports on sales activities including number of new account presentations, number of calls, number of referrals for new weekly contacts and other information as requested
Develop and implement an annual sales strategy to increase product movement and profitability

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
Five to eight years’ experience in Sales and Marketing, preferably Business to Business
Successful record in generating sales and growing a client base
Ability to effectively speak and write in English as well as two other European Languages, preferably French and German
Weekly travel, including overnight travel, throughout Europe to meet with potential and current distributors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: knowledge of refrigeration technology and equipment selection, knowledge of the wine industry preferred, the ability to speak effectively and make sales presentations before all levels of an organization, the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in meeting revenue goals and objectives.
