Following an extremely successful 2014, my client is currently seeking an Automotive Mechanical Design/Vehicle Packaging Engineer to work within their team based in the Warwickshire area.
Some key information regarding the position is as follows:
Rate:£30-£40ph Dependent on experience
Duration:12 months minimum
Location:Warwickshire
The Role
Working with the Vehicle Packaging Team you will be responsible for packaging activities that could involve various major interior or exterior systems/attributes such as seating inc 3rd row, people package inc clearance and reach, ingress/egress, visibility, luggage compartment, IP, consoles, door casings, pillar trims, headlinings and carpet/insulation, major underbody systems such as spare wheel, subframes, fuel tanks, exhaust, compressors, reservoirs, towing equipment etc, as well as smaller systems including pipes, hoses and cables
Please Note
You will not be required to work/have experience on all of the above. The successful candidate will be allocated as per their strengths and prior experiences.
Experience Required
*Highly proficient CAD user with 3D visualisation.
*Experienced in the use of Visual mock up.
*Expertise in Catia V5 & (ideally) TCe trained with good visualisation & engineering skills.
*Previous experience in vehicle packaging.
*Good visualisation and engineering skills relating to interior systems/attributes and their interactions
*Good communicator whilst being comfortable working with a number of different teams and the client.
*Objective driven with ability to focus on the solutions rather than just the problem
*A working level understanding of Microsoft based systems (MS Office suite etc)
*The ability to work autonomously and within a team
*An understanding of risk management
*Confident in making data driven decisions
*Happy to work in a flexible way to support the delivery of the overall objectives
This role will involve other aspects other than design such as attending progress meetings, raising design issues, liaising with other teams for solutions etc.
