Mechanical Engineer x 3 - Contract - Dorset - Great Rates!

Our Client, a large aerospace engineering organisation are looking for a number of Mechanical Engineers (Fluid Systems) to be based in Dorset.

Due to a strong order book and increasing workload we need to supplement the systems engineering team with additional systems engineers.

Role:

As a member of the Fluid Systems Engineering team:

  • Provide technical and management support to delivery of fuel & hydraulic system products such as valves, pumps and pipe systems.
  • Preparation of documentation such as Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports and Verification Reports. Manages allocated projects through design, development and qualification.
  • Support FAA conformity inspections.

Key competencies:

  • A strong understanding of fluid & mechanical engineering in the context of aerospace systems
  • Understanding of the operation and maintenance of aircraft, particularly large transport types
  • Understanding of aircraft airworthiness and certification
  • Experience of liaison with customers and suppliers
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Experience of the management of aerospace development projects
  • Understanding of systems engineering methods
  • An analytical approach to problem solving
  • Product Development - leading an area of the project and working closely with each area to ensure the project is running smoothly

Required experience:

  • 5 years+ experience in an aerospace environment within systems & new product development in an avionics role
  • Have previous experience leading an Engineering Project
  • Extensive knowledge of Fluid System Components
  • Databus specifications (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429, CAN).
  • Development of electronic Hardware (DO-254).
  • Safety and certification of airborne software (DO-178).
  • Understanding and experience of systems engineering processes including:
  • Development and certification of complex systems (ARP4754)
  • Systems engineering life cycle processes (ISO15288).
  • Experience of requirements management using tools such as DOORS or Cradle
  • Relevant degree or equivalent

You will be working with sensitive data and as such you should be willing to undergo BPSS (Baseline) & Disclosure Scotland Security Vetting before being able to commence the contract.
