Release Manager - VOD/Media/Broadcast
I am currently recruiting for a talented and enthusiastic Release Manager on a contract basis, to join a world-renowned organization for an initial 3 months. As Release Manager you will be working on an exciting and high profile project of major strategic importance to the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with stakeholders to determine scope of releases and the associated plans and coordination required to deliver them into target environments including live operations
- Ensure agreement, buy-in and commitment with all parties to the approach and plan for the respective release
- Ensure alignment of the individual Release Plan with the overall Programme Plan and its alignment to the overall Release Management Strategy
- Ensure that the full scope is delivered drawing on outputs from all work streams, and for managing any changes to scope through formal change management processes
- Liaise with suppliers to the programme to determine when change items such as enhancements that deliver business benefit will be delivered, identify any dependencies required to realise the change and all steps necessary to successfully deploy the change into the target environment in a safe and repeatable manner
- Ensure appropriate test coverage is in place to mitigate any risk of failure, either system or to the business objectives
Manage the following type of releases to one or more target environments:
- Major software releases and major hardware upgrades, normally containing large amounts of new functionality.
- Minor software releases and hardware upgrades, normally containing small enhancements and fixes, some of which may have already been issued as emergency fixes.
- Emergency software and hardware fixes.
Essential experience:
- Experience of VOD/Broadcasting
- Proven experience of developing business relationships and dealing successfully with strategic stakeholders, both external and internal
- Proven experience of delivering projects or programmes using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies;
- Experience of working on multiple projects/work streams in parallel
- Effective people management skills and an ability to challenge, support, influence and engage senior managers and peers across the organization
- Good technical background
