Wintel Consultant - Contract - 6 months Rolling - Banking - Johannesburg - Market Rates

Purpose of the job

Provide specialist level two Windows Server operational supports, provide support, advice and guidance to run the bank projects and will be required to work closely with other specialist areas Globally and within Africa Technologies

Accountability: Deliver/Implement/Support X86 Platform services

  • Accountable for the delivery of assignments and tasks in the agreed timeframes, advice, design and implement technical solutions as per best practice to address customer requirements efficiently.

  • Analyse and evaluate existing Windows platform solutions in conjunction with other GTIS technology teams to review costs and effectiveness of solutions. This may include the evaluation of packaged solutions and/or interfaces to existing Bank systems or the evaluation of new and upgraded products or services.

  • Provide Support for live systems and resolve incidents and problems within the agreed SLA timelines.

  • Implement policy and strategy as defined by GTIS.

  • Provide advice and leadership where required to drive policy and strategy implementation.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the system and service management processes for infrastructure and technologies that is currently in use.

  • Interface with other areas sharing technical knowledge and expertise and resolve issues as necessary

Accountability: Build sustainable practices

  • Analyse effectiveness of processes and systems in use in the Distributed Technologies team and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Keep abreast of industry and business unit changes by attending regular training, conferences, forums, reading and engagement with subject matter experts and industry peers.

  • Stay abreast of industry and operational trends and ensure that Distributed Technologies is well positioned to provide competitive and industry leading services. .

  • Take steps to capture practices, procedures and knowledge into bank databases to ensure the sustainability of Transformation and delivery practices

  • Challenge the established practices and recommend improvements to continuously enhance and improve delivery within the Bank.

Accountability: Manage Stakeholders and Customers

  • Expand and maintain networks with project stakeholders and role players.

  • Build and foster relationships with colleagues and business stakeholders and role players in order to improve overall effectiveness.

  • Attend to role players, stakeholders and customer service requests, enquiries and complaints

Experience

  • (5) years' experience and exposure to the Banking/ICT Industry

  • (3) years' experience in a high degree of commercial awareness with sound understanding of key contractual obligations and risks to maximize benefits

  • (3) years' experience in understanding the concepts of service delivery and support

  • (3) years' experience in operating with highly demanding clients

Preferred/Advantage

  • (3) Years' experience in understanding of ITIL processes and associated concepts.

  • (2) Years' experience within a project delivery team.

  • (2) Years' Experience working within a global team and with various international cultures.

Essential/Minimum-Education

  • B-degree, Commerce or a relevant banking or business degree or an NQF Level 6 equivalent qualification

  • Certification relevant to area of expertise such as:

    • A+, MCSE Windows Server 2003 OR MCITP Windows Server 2008,

    • ITIL Foundations V3, VCP4, VCA4-DT & VCAP4-DCA (VMware Certified Associate 4 - Desktop & VMware Certified Advanced Professional on vSphere 4 - Datacentre Administration)

    • ITIL Foundations V3

Delivering a new Data Centre for a major UK Bank. This new Data Centre will provide a secure strategic foundation for the Banks critical services, meeting current and future business requirements and enabling further Data Centre consolidation, this is one of the Bank's key priority programmes. Migration work is delivered by a series of waves that will move services on incremental basis from current Data Centre to the new, and includes circa 700 member's team across all waves. This is probably the largest and most complex ever delivered in Europe. Programme started in Q2 2011 and will complete in Q2 2016.

Project managing a large divestment project to close down Hong Kong & Malaysia offices and repatriate the International Mortgage business back to UK. Involved setting up a completely new Call Centre (desktops, telephony, networks, printing, scanning etc.), whilst the Back End infrastructure remains in Hong Kong, managed by a third party with access from UK via a Citrix Published Desktop solution.

Helping one of the largest companies in the world to design and embed a new organisation structure and governance model to oversee SharePoint & Enterprise Search Service Operations, while managing the integration of several new and ongoing inter-dependent enterprise-wide architectural and IT service change programmes.

Delivering cutting edge capability in network security to an international financial service group listed on the Stock Exchanges in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York, serving more than 23 million customers.

Managing a project team of Security Consultants to address open security vulnerabilities for one of the largest investment banks in the UK.
