Core-Asset Consulting's client, a global insurance organisation, has an opportunity for a Financial Crime Prevention Risk Manager to join their Edinburgh team on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will provide advice for all financial crime related legal and regulatory requirements.

Core responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage compliance with all financial crime related legal and regulatory requirements as well as business policies.
  • Undertake and manage the preparation and delivery of reports to senior management on information gathered and analysed in order to make recommendations for improvements to the management and control of risk as appropriate.
  • Conduct research and interpret the data received on emerging business or industry wide risks and evaluate trends in risk concentration in order to provide early warning to help the business identify, avoid and take action to mitigate risks in relation to financial crime.
  • Interpret external market developments, statutory regulations and internal business requirements in order to support the development of appropriate strategies to manage, monitor and control risk.
  • When required, support the development of the department business plan, in order to meet or exceed the agreed performance objectives, monitoring progress against completion throughout the year.
  • When required, assess specific business proposals, providing critical analysis and recommendations to enable sanctioning by senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements where appropriate implementing actions to protect the Insurance business at all times.
  • Manage and support project activities, including risk identification, evaluation and management in order to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and to quality expectations
  • Act as a consultant and a point of reference on technical and procedural issues in order to ensure customer requirements are satisfied.
  • Manage and recommend changes to systems, processes and working practices in order to achieve operational improvement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise workload
  • A strong awareness for financial crime and the risk it brings to the organisation
  • The ability to analyse operation weaknesses and communicate the recommended changes to stakeholders

Core requirements:

  • Good knowledge of financial crime, legal and statutory requirement is essential
  • Degree educated
  • Previous experience with financial crime and risk within a financial services environment
