Storage Technical Consultant: NetApp Storage: Global Oil Company

World Leading Global Energy Oil Company has an exciting opportunity for a Storage Technical Consultant to support the global Storage infrastructure across more than 20 locations for Subsurface applications used by Exploration and Production professionals. This is primarily a NetApp oriented infrastructure where the operational service is deployed and operated by an outsource supplier. This is a customer interface and service management role. It is not an IT support role - The infrastructure support for storage has been outsourced.

Main activities:

  • Work closely with business customers to understand their demand for amount and type of storage.
  • Close working relationship with the end users and IT outsourced suppliers to deliver a stable end to end service.
  • End to End problem management and monitoring across the storage environment.
  • On boarding (technical, support, finance) of new functionality into the service.
  • Develop tools and solutions either in house or in cooperation with storage service provider.
  • Document, maintain and improve service performance metrics.
  • Maintain and implement new technologies and best practices.
  • Translating customer requirements in infrastructure design and managing component infrastructure providers delivery on new requirements .
  • Migration to new technology.

About You:

  • Good Exposure to Storage Technologies.
  • Operational support experience with NetApp Storage.
  • Infrastructure hosting skills focused on the Redhat Linux OS and/or Windows.
  • Pro-active attitude - propose and execute technical and service related improvements.
  • Customer focused and pro-active attitude - enjoy customer facing, taking end-to-end responsibility.
  • Be able to work with various specialized multinational support teams to bring complex requests or problems to timely resolution.
  • In-depth analytical and troubleshooting skills on a variety of platforms.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience participating in a virtual team of people delivering services.
  • Experience in multinational/multicultural enterprise.
  • Exposure to the Exploration and Production business, preferably in the Subsurface/Geomatics arena.
  • Experience in applications such as Openworks, Petrel, ArcGIS would be a plus.

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
