Specific Job Description:
The crew turret training system is part of a large and complex MOD vehicle procurement programme. As a subcontractor will be providing 3 variants of the training system an appended (attached to the vehicle), containerised (turret within shelter) and classroom based system. The systems will enable crews to perform basic training to continuation training.

The role will involve the design of the electrical systems for the appended and containerised version of the crew turret trainer. The work will range from the design and specification of power distribution systems, HVACs to the wiring looms and connectors for turret LRUs. It's expected there will be a lot of crossover with the mechanical engineers to design the 2 training systems.

The successful candidate will be able to identify and implement necessary tasks within their area of responsibility and demonstrate the flexibility necessary to work within a dynamic Programme; responsibilities will include working with other staff, subcontractors and customer to design and develop solutions to requirements.

The candidate will be expected to take on the following tasks:
* Excute programme tasks under general guidance
* Carry out the detailed design of all types of electrical systems.
* Produce specs, design drawings and bills of materials
* Undertake project research
* Point of contact for suppliers and engineers everything related to the electrical systems of the trainers
* Identify and evaluate component suppliers
* Responsible to ensure suppliers have implemented to design and function.
* Working across engineering groups to ensure designs meet the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements
* Supporting assurance activities
* Providing evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements and safety justifications; providing specialist support for any associated activities
* Hands on integration of the electrical systems.
* Participate in programme meeting; some flexibility will be required due to US and UK time differences.

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes.

Desired & Required Skills:

Required Skills:
* 17th Edition Wiring Regulations - qualified
* Core understanding of BS EN 60950
* Familiar with CE self-certification requirements
* Good understanding of EMC/EMI at electrical component, LRU and system level
* Preparation of Technical reports and presentations
* Knowledge of the design, development and validation cycles of product/systems
* Ability to understand risks, undertake and develop risk assessment protocols

Desired:
* Experience using Solidworks Electrical professional and EPDM advantageous
* Experience of working on electrical systems for simulators
* Defence industry experience would be beneficial
* Experience in the automotive industry
