Description

Supportability Engineer required to specify, develop and deliver a support solution for a system.

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) forms a core part of the development of new products, and over the years it has become recognised as a specific engineering activity to ensure all the issues that could affect the long-term support of a product are addressed as early as possible within the product's project life cycle.

Typical activities will include:
Scoping and developing the most appropriate support strategy.
Successfully influencing the product design to enhance in-service supportability.
Designing and developing the support solution for the product.
Delivering all the mandated support elements.

To do this, the ILS Supportability Engineer will be required to:
Develop strategic project support/ILS strategies during the bid phase, and cascade this through the supply chain, working jointly, as requested, with customers.
Evolve 'Design for Supportability Requirements', and ensure the product design is compliant with them.
Take responsibility for the implementation of contractual ILS requirements, through all phases of the project life cycle.
Proactively work across the entire project life cycle, tailoring the support solution design to suit the particular phase of the programme.
Carry out sensitivity studies of potential support solutions addressing operational use, maintenance policy, and through-life costs across the project life cycle.
Develop and maintain the Integrated Support Plan (ISP) and all sub-element plans.
Deliver the Maintenance Plan, and the associated logistics spares recommendations for the product.
Co-ordinate development and delivery of technical documentation and customer training.
Attend Customer Programme, Design and ILS Reviews; to ensure ILS project drivers are fully understood, considered, and the impacts of any associated risks are reduced.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Supportability engineering skills to analyse the product supportability to develop and deliver a support solution.
