Commercial Director - Business Development - Sales - Product Development

My client a large local government body currently provides and sells £44m of services predominantly to schools in the region. These services have now come under a new operating model known as SmartSolutions.

The new role is a key appointment in developing these services further within the new model. It will oversee the governance and working arrangements of all traded services (initially with schools) to ensure that NYCC continues to offer high quality, competitive services to schools in a format that they can access easily and find good value for money.

The commercial director will lead the development of a comprehensive, competitive and high quality traded offer for schools, academies, other educational establishments and other customers in and beyond North Yorkshire County.

Establish and lead on a sales and business development strategy for the Council grow and develop new business through diversification and expansion of the services Work with and challenge the senior managers who deliver services to drive innovative service development and January 2015 improvements in quality and to secure new business

Manage the Support Unit and lead the development of an efficient and effective operating model including business systems, production of management information, compliance and financial reporting, subscription models, contractual arrangements, customer relationship management systems, customer evaluation processes and business improvement processes

Support the strategic development of a more commercial focus, coaching and developing capability at all levels of the organisation
