Role - EHS Specialist
Location - Ireland, Cork
Type - until the end of the year

Our key pharmaceutical client is looking for an EHS Specialist to provide technical expertise in investigation of problems and develop solutions and implement corrective and preventive action plans within the EHS function.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure safety, health and environment compliance with regulatory requirements and with corporate policies, global standards, and procedures for assigned areas.
• Support Corporate and Business Unit EHS strategy and objectives, contribute to development and implementation of global EHS programs and promote local alignment with same.
• Promote a culture of EHS excellence and provides high-quality safety, health and environmental technical leadership to assigned operations.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of management, directing operations personnel and project teams, as appropriate
• Serve as local expert in safety, health, environment and transportation regulatory issues and direct compliance activities on these matters.
• Plan and maintain site safety and environment management systems.
• Advise on risk prevention opportunities including hazardous materials exposure, spills, releases, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions.
• Work cross-functionally to identify EHS problems and provide possible alternatives and solutions.
• Provide technical expertise in investigation of problems and develop innovative solutions, implement corrective and preventive action plans to address problems.
• Support business continuity and planning.
• Actively contribute to emergency response & preparedness efforts as a key member of the team.
• Co-ordinate EHS technology transfer implementation for new products and operations.
• Monitor operating costs for assigned areas.
• Optimise existing operations and practices with focus on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide oversight on safety and environment projects in assigned areas.
• Conduct internal audits tracking and directing follow-up activities to correct any non-conformity.
• Maintain EHS records containing pertinent safety and environment metrics and data including incident records for assigned areas

Key Requirements:
• Health & Safety background
• Experience installing EHS management systems
• A Degree qualified in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Environmental Science/Engineering.
• Proven experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment.
