Modis are currently recruiting for a Senior Stress Engineer for a market leading aerospace client based near Bedford, for a 12 month contract role starting ASAP.
Working alongside some of the largest Defence & Aerospace companies in the world, my client has taken on a number of additional projects and now is looking to expand their current team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Stress Engineer with at least 5 years' senior level experience in the aerospace industry working on composite or metallic components or structures.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of Department as well as managing the team on occasions at varying stages of development. Also responsible for hands on stress engineering including verification of structural design philosophy by hand calculations, extracting information form FEMs, production of stress reports, etc. as directed by the head of department.
Further to this, experience of static stress analysis using standard hand and computer methods and liaising with Design, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and other appropriate departments to develop optimum design solutions from a stress standpoint.
Technical Skills:
*Aeronautical methods understanding
*Good working knowledge of Ansys, Nastran, Patran, MathCAD, etc
*Experienced & able to carry out hand calculations
*Experienced & able to create stress reports
*Able to extract load information from FEMs (Finite elements).
