Description

Responsibilities:
  • Develops large-scale corporate wide projects, focused on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders etc.
  • Assembles multi disciplinary project team.
  • Manages project budget, schedule and resource allocation.
  • Leads the design, testing, planning, and implementation of complex projects for systems that typically affect many users.
  • Interacts regularly with existing or potential clients to determine their needs and to develop plans for improving delivery of products and services.
  • Functions as the central point of communication/coordination between end-user requests and BT infrastructure, equipment and services.
  • Serves as BT lead on larger engineering and facility project teams. Ability to work within a large, cross-functional project team is essential.
  • Works closely with Facility and Engineering project management on a site or project basis.
Duties:
  • Advocates and represents clients' needs and requirements to sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Identifies, develops, and initiates innovative solutions.
  • Operates cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Analyzes decisions and actions in support of long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrates superior collaboration skills and techniques which appropriately define alternate solutions; resolve conflicts; and create lasting, productive partnerships with clients
  • Searches and secures collaborative resources.
  • Presents oral and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management.
Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains enterprise communication cabling standards.
  • Develops and maintains the Build of Design standards for telecom rooms.
  • Writes RFP for communication cabling and security cabling.
  • Provides consultative services to group for communication cabling and IT related issues.
  • Represents group as a technical liaison with BT and BTI to ensure that BT and BTI initiatives support the group/client requirements.
  • Represents group in construction meetings to ensure that technical specifications for communication cabling, power and cooling for the telecom rooms.
Miscellaneous Duties
  • Single point of contact for carrier services facilities:
  • Uses internal resources to reduce costs by leveraging existing BT inventory
  • Assesses site closures inventory for re useable inventory based on upcoming projects
  • Assesses proposed lease sites for cabling standards and associated BT costs

Skills

  • Must have ability to read and interpret drawings and be proficient in interacting with tradespersons.
  • Knowledge of industry data communication standards and policies and ability to learn/adapt policies for same.
  • Knowledge of industry power and cooling standards and ability to learn/adapt company policies for same.
  • Extensive Industry standard knowledge in the following areas:
  • WAN/LAN/WLAN/Voice (Cisco-centric)
  • Communication cabling/Fiber Optics
  • Telecommunications - IPT/TDM
  • Data network architecture and design
  • MTR/IDF Communication Room design and space planning
  • Carrier service offerings
  • Local TV service offerings
  • AV cabling
  • Server and application migration/decommissioning/recommissioning experience a plus
  • Overall Project Coordination for network & voice service areas.
  • Manage remote engineers and deliverables for designs for Service Delivery
  • Coordinates the network engineering resources activities, time card tracking, overall milestone completion and project billing
  • Orchestrates the activities and deliverables required by the network & voice services resources- tracking necessary milestones, actions, issues, etc.
  • Provides daily direction and oversight to local project coordinators responsible for projects within the project portfolio
  • Consolidates individual BTI work stream updates and inputs into a comprehensive project view (including, but not limited to milestone tracking, actions, accomplishments, issues, status)
  • Conduct recurring meetings (daily or weekly as needed) to brief stakeholders on project progress
  • Support relationships with key upstream IT delivery organizations (WAN, LAN, WLAN, IP and TDM telephony services, etc.)
  • Support service quality metrics.
  • Flexible with travel as required
  • Utilizes a network of relationships to collect and disseminate information, build support, and secure buy-in for desired objectives.
  • Demonstrates superior interpersonal, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills. In addition, candidate must have strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Regularly makes decisions and takes independent action on matters directly affecting strategic goals.
  • Establishes and cultivates essential relationships both within and outside company
  • Acts decisively in critical situations and proactively circumvents potential problems.
  • Possesses a basic knowledge of general financial and accounting principles.
  • A 4 year college degree in an IT related field, and 15 years of industrial IT experience in critical business environments are required.
  • Leadership qualities are essential. Candidate must be proficient in leading diverse project teams, including:
    o technical, operational and management personnel
    o outsourced technical contractors and suppliers
    o Designers
    o Trade contractors
    o Suppliers
    o Others as needed
  • Candidate must be capable of navigating within an outsourced delivery model and delivering projects within established budget and schedule.
  • Candidate must display initiative, inquire as required to maintain project progress, and be capable of managing by influence.
