Propagation Modeller

A role exists for a scientist/engineer with experience of propagation modelling preferably related to the underwater environment to join a development project being undertaken for a MOD customer. You will be joining a team of highly technical multi-disciplined and enthusiastic engineers contributing to the development and installation of calibrated at-sea systems. You will work with and report to the project Acoustic Team Lead.

Must have:

  • Experience of using acoustic or electromagnetic propagation models;
  • Experience of underwater acoustics.
  • Degree in engineering, a physics based pure science or allied subject;
  • Demonstrable ability to use and configure propagation models;
  • Drive and determination;
  • A proactive and dynamic professional attitude to internal and external customers
  • Excellent analytical skills and judgment;
  • Pragmatic and reasonable;
  • Good problem solving abilities;
  • Ability to work under time and budgetary pressures;
  • Open, honest and enthusiastic team member;

Desirable

  • Background in undertaking measurements in a maritime environment;
  • Experience of at-sea testing and experimentation;
  • Experience of MATLAB;
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques;
  • Experience of calibrating acoustic system.
