Description

Due to expansion I am looking for a senior buyer to support my clients EDS team.
This is a high profile position within Electrical Production purchasing which requires stakeholder engagement at many levels within the company and also with the external supply base.

This role is strategic and will work as a purchasing matched pair for all commercial responsibilities relating to the commodity for both new model and mass production. The successful candidate will interface regularly between other production buyers, suppliers, PD and STA and will be responsible for supporting the strategic delivery of the commodities through negotiated costs with suppliers and deliver class leading value to our new model programmes.

The position will be offered as either a long term contract opportunity or as a contract to permanent position.

Due to the urgent nature of this position, the ideal candidate will be available within 4 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

*Support the development/refresh of the strategic commodity dossier on the required commodity reflecting current situation and future state, support the CBP
*Managing supplier relationships and supplier performance
*Managing changing customer take rates within agreed supplier long term strategies and capacities
*Deliver cost savings on current business and leading cost management activities.
*Work as a matched pair with PD.
*Work with manufacturing, capacity team and MP&L to understand constraints
*Work with Internationalisation team and Trading Division to develop a strategy and negotiate cost with suppliers for international requirements

Skills, experience and qualifications required

*Strong buying and negotiating expertise
*Strong sense of 'business acumen' and analytical skills
*Experience in supplier relationship management
*Project management skills
*Professionally qualified with a proven track record in a purchasing or other commercial negotiating environment
*Strong leadership and influencing skills
*Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills and experience
*An excellent negotiator with a proven track record of successful commercial negotiations
*Able to manage and execute complex negotiations
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with external suppliers/customers
*Ability to be highly organised and continually focus on attention to detail
*An understanding of cost drivers throughout a manufacturing environment
*An ability to react to changing market dynamics in the buyer/supplier relationships
*An awareness of the total business case and end customer value relationship
*Experience of dealing with global companies with high value revenue is desired
*Degree desired and/or CIPS qualified
