Description

A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Claims Manager to work at their UK Headquaters on an initial 12 months contract starting as soon as possible. The Claims Manager will be responsible for supporting project Package Managers in the management and settlement of claims related to the onshore and offshore works of the Offshore Wind Farm project. This team is responsible for supporting all of our packages WRT contract management and claims support.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Safeguarding and seeking benefit from the project's contractual position at all times, ensuring reliable protection for the Company;
  • Applying any control measures necessary to minimise the approved cost of project;
  • Providing contractual advice to the Contracts Manager & Senior Management;
  • Supporting the execution of contracts with contractors in a manner which promotes positive working relationships whilst safeguarding the Company's position;
  • Supporting the project Package Managers in avoiding, mitigating and refuting contractor claims to the full extent permitted by the project contracts;
  • Supporting the project Package Managers in identifying, assessing and pursuing appropriate claims against project contractors;
  • Liaising with the project Commercial Analyst and Risk Manager, in order to ensure the accurate reporting and forecasting of claims values;
  • Liaising/Working with internal and external lawyers as may be required;
  • Undertaking cost analyses and valuation of Variations & Claims;
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
Key skill requirements
  • Experience on large, complex capital projects through construction phase;
  • Senior Manager with claims management experience working on offshore renewable energy projects;
  • Ability to provide contractual advice, evaluate & report upon contractual issues and drafting contractual correspondence, such as formal notices;
  • Ability to construct persuasive arguments;
  • Ability to manage time across multiple tasks;
  • Ability to forecast out turn claim costs and prepare associated reports;
  • Ability to value work in progress, variations and claims;
  • Drafting & defending contractual claims
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent IT and presentation skills;
  • Strong team player;
  • Working knowledge of BIMCO and FIDIC based contracts;
  • Member of a relevant professional body, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Institute of Commercial Management.
