I am looking to hire a Head of financial management/Interim deputy director of finance for one of my public sector client.

Essential Experience:

CCAB qualified accountant, experience in financial management (board level - senior)

Desirable Experience:

Commissioning CCG experience and acute contracts

  • Wide range of experience of financial management in a senior role
  • Proven and significant leadership experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in a healthcare environment or evidence of ability to develop this very quickly
  • Significant management experience at senior level in the healthcare or other public healthcare related industry
  • Proven Board level experience at senior level in healthcare or other public healthcare related industry
  • Proven record in transferring processes and roles between locations.
  • Commissioning expertise in healthcare environment
  • Significant experience and understanding of proven implementation of project management methodologies
  • Member of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience and/or understanding of the Health Economy
  • Commercial expertise
  • Awareness of relevant public and private sector business management best practice

Additional Information:

As the interim Deputy Director of Finance (Specialised Commissioning) the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Regional Team and supporting the contracting of specialised services with providers within the regional boundaries for patients across England. The key roles of the post are to coordinate the financial performance of the Hubs within the region and monitor and manage within the team the performance against financial targets and plans including QIPP. Additionally to support across the regional team the delivery of contracts, QIPP targets and activity targets in line with agreed national guidance. Finally to ensure proper communication and relationships with the national team. The post holder will have responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the Department. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives. The post holder will undertake a cross regional corporate role.

Further key aspects of this role will be to:-

  • Support the commissioning strategy is delivered utilising all available resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Support the development and management of plans, within the region.
  • Ensure appropriate system and processes are in place in finance to enable the implementation of the strategy plans in the new organisations.
  • Proactively manage the key risks and issues associated with ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.
  • Monitoring and establishing accountability on the overall progress of the financial strategy to ensure completion within agreed timescales.
  • Manage the budgetary implications of activity.
  • Avoid the destabilisation of business as usual.
  • Manage and actively promote the relationships with key stakeholders.
