Description

My client, a leading global bank, is looking for a Senior Level Product Controller to assist in the management and ownership of the product control function of this top tier institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of a team of 5 Product Controllers responsible for performing the daily and monthly P&L process including monitoring of controls.
  • A detailed understanding of the Banking and Structured Credit Trading and strategies and structures there within, including ownership of standard control checks to ensure the structures are being reported accurately and consistently across portfolio and in relation to associated consolidated SPVs
  • Supervising the team to cope with a mix of business products and booking methodologies
  • Frequent and effective liaison with trading desk, risk, operations and all other areas of the business
  • Active monitoring of Key Risk indicators, ensuring relevant portfolio reconciliations are cleared in a timely manner, liaising with operations, cash management and other departments to maintain indicators at an amber level or below. In addition to clearing all audit breaks in the agreed timeframe
  • Co-ordinate and oversee the detailed MIS deliverables to senior management
  • To co-ordinate the daily Global P&L production, ensuring close collaboration and effective communication with the global teams
  • Full monthly reconciliation between reported P&L and general ledger plus a strong understanding of the components of the balance sheet ensuring that all accounts are reconciled and substantiated
  • Coordination, monitoring and quality control of the team's resources on ad hoc investigations and projects
  • Review of new/restructured trades per the structured trade review process ensuring that the trade details and bookings agree and that risks have been identified and communicated to the relevant departments

Requirements

  • University graduate and fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), or qualified via extensive technical experience and expertise
  • Extensive Product Control or Financial Control experience within an Investment Banking environment
  • Ability to appreciate the complexities involved in controlling & reporting multi-instrument and multi-system booked transactions
  • Strong understanding of technical accounting policies and standards relating to investment banking products
  • Able to deal with high priority conflicting deliverables within a challenging timescale
  • Effect leadership and delegation skills developed through management experience
