Description of Duties:
Participate in R&D and production for the assembly of cryomodules for the Linear Coherent Light Source upgrade project.

The major tasks involve:
Superconducting Radio Frequency Cavity preparation and cavity string assembly working in Class 1000, Class 100, and Class 10 clean room environments for up to 8 hours a day.
Ultra High Vacuum cleaning and assembly of components (tooling, hardware, parts etc.) prior entry to Class 1000 ante cleanroom.
Particulate free cleaning of parts, subassemblies and tooling prior to entry to Class 10 assembly cleanroom.
Leak checking assemblies using helium mass spectrometer leak detection equipment
Participation in clean room infrastructure setup and preventive maintenance.
Essential Functions:
Candidate must be able to work in a Class 10 cleanroom environment with a team of other technicians and lead supervisor.
Candidate must understand and strictly adhere to the cleanroom working protocols at all times.
Candidate must be able to use hand tools, operate electromechanical and hydraulic machine equipment, assemble components and subassemblies in accordance with documented specifications and travelers, be able to read engineering drawings, lead and train other technicians in the performance of their jobs. During the cavity string process, the candidate must participate in the recording of data in an electronic traveler utilizing a personal computer.
Must be able to wear cleanroom attire (inner scrubs, cleanroom gowns, hair, face covers, etc.) and Personal Protective Equipment, must be available to work overtime as needed, and must be medically fit to participate in jobs requiring back effort, some lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and standing for long periods of time.

SKILLS:

Requirements: (skills, education, training): Must have a high school diploma or equivalent to GED and have a minimum of five years experience as a mechanical or electromechanical technician working in a laboratory environment or industrial environment. A minimum of one year of experience working in a Class 100 or better cleanroom is highly desirable.
