Senior Financial Analyst - West London (Nr Heathrow - 12 months - £290 per day)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent

  • Accounting qualification (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar)

  • Minimum 3 years in finance and/or accounting

Role description:

  • Provide support for complex alliances within the R&D organization

  • Provide global financial management support for major Academic Collaborations, Joint Development and Alliance Contracts across R&D organization and financial expertise on key finance and business processes

  • Manage financial processes and analytical support relating to external alliances including knowledge of deal relationships and various types of contracts to support simplified finance processes

  • Deliver transparent, timely & accurate financial results and analytical support to customers addressing trends, variances and forecasting efficiencies

  • Provide financial acumen and guidance to customers on financial processes and proper financial reporting of alliance expenditures, demonstrating the ability to independently research and interpret complex accounting issues

  • Accountable for the effective communication of finance practices, issues and opportunities to finance leadership and customers

Skills required for this role:

  • Have a number of specific alliances and collaborations in R&D assigned, for which to provide on-going finance support as follows

  • Finance partnering: Partner Therapy-area Finance Directors as well as Alliance Managers and other alliance related stakeholders, and also the third party external alliance partners, to ensure that finance aspects of alliance agreements are operationalized

  • Issue and receive invoices related to alliances, ensure approvals are received, ensure invoices are in line with alliance agreements, check underlying calculations, get the Shared Service Centre to process and pay invoices

  • Track actual spend on alliances vs budget, generate variance analysis and commentary on the variances, communicate commentary to feed into the larger R&D P&L variance analysis

  • Prepare cost analysis of costs spent by R&D on specific collaborations, eg labor, materials, etc., by extracting relevant information from relevant IT systems used across R&D

  • Prepare and update budgets for alliances

  • Prepare commentary for balance sheet reconciliations listing the receivables and payables related to alliances

  • Month-end reporting: Prepare and submit into accounting systems the monthly accounting entries related to relevant alliances, eg invoices paid and invoices issued, recognize payables or receivables for unpaid invoices

  • Understand alliance agreements in order to recommend to stakeholders the actions required from finance

  • Ad-hoc requests and queries, data provision, etc. for stakeholders

  • Appreciate and adhere to SOX controls

  • Participate in HCP reporting related to alliances

This contract is initial for 12 months and based near to Heathrow airport offering a daily rate of £290 per day.
