Senior Project Manager-Project Manager, LfE, Submarine

A Senior Project Manager with Project Manager, LfE and Submarine experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a 6 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

Overview of the Senior Project Manager contract role

Responsible for leading changes to the existing culture of LFE across the defence programme, developing a sustainable strategy, delivery plan and change management processes. Responsible for delivery of those plans to create a defence programme culture which provides quantifiable benefits contributing to the client strategic goal of predictable submarine delivery.

Key skills required for the Senior Project Manager

  • Lead and co-ordinate development and delivery of a defence programme culture which provides quantifiable benefits contributing to predictable submarine delivery.
  • Develop policies, procedures and processes to support the development and sustainability of the LfE culture.
  • Develop and maintain LfE change strategy, delivery plans, risks and opportunities.
  • Liaise with Central LfE functional management to ensure the programme aligns with corporate goals.
  • Develop LfE communication strategy and plans, draw up key messages and communications documentation, and ensure communications are distributed in a timely manner to inform/engage/consult all stakeholders as required.
  • Provide LfE expertise to all programme events; highlight interdependencies across the programmes, and manage the central LfE database.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with LfE teams across the business, taking a lead in the business-wide standardisation of approach and change processes within defence submarines.
  • Monitor & control LfE metrics and benefits realisation; regularly review and report on progress against the plan, resolving issues where project is being impacted; chair regular programme meetings.
  • Lead, develop and motivate any reporting and assigned staff.
  • Champion continuous improvement and team participation within the project.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
