Materials Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a professional and experienced materials manager on a 3 - 6 month contract based in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all aspects of the global material supply chain from procurement, through MPS/MRP output to material supply onto the shop floor, in accordance with the Business Objectives and Targets.
Provision of support for supply chain for overseas manufacturing facilities ensuring stability of global supply and optimized procurement processes.

Ensuring compliance with, and support for, the Global Supply Chain strategy.
Oversee the Planning function to ensure that the material supply chain is coordinated to meet the requirements of the customer facing activity.

Assist the Director of Operations in the development and implementation of improvement initiatives to ensure continued and improved profitability of the businesses.

Motivation and direction of staff to ensure compliance with corporate directives and business initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a purchasing and supply strategy that is consistent with the long term goals of businesses and support the Global Supply Chain Strategy.
Ensure legal compliance of all documents generated in association with "Letter of Credit" presentations.
Develop comprehensive supplier monitoring and reporting processes for quality, cost and delivery (in conjunction with other applicable teams).
Setting of suitable KPI's in conjunction with the Director of Operations and the European Supply Chain Manager to ensure performance of direct reporting functions is monitored.
Generation, implementation and maintenance of Management System procedures for the areas of responsibility that demonstrate compliance with the specified requirements of BS EN ISO9000:2000.
Maintenance of Health and Safety and 5S in areas of responsibility.
Identification of training needs for personnel in areas of responsibility and timely action to address shortfalls.
Conducting appraisals for personnel in areas of responsibility in accordance with the Management System specified requirements.

SUBSIDIARY ELEMENTS
Control of personnel issues for responsible staff.
Ensure regular liaison and co-working with interfacing departments to resolve any issues that may affect the performance of the business operations.
Generation of reports as detailed by the senior operations management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT - Essential
Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
Membership of relevant professional body CIPS.
5 years + experience managing a purchasing/procurement function.
Good general standard of education.
A professional understanding of all aspects of procurement activity and its contribution to achieving strategic objectives.
Excellent knowledge of contract law, cost analysis and supply chain issues.
Minimum of 10 years experience in a purchasing role with at least 5 years experience of the management of a purchasing function.
Experience of the process/practices of performance management, appraisal and professional development.

Desirable
2+ years experience in a purchasing role in the PCBA/semi-conductor industry.

SKILLS & ABILITIES - Essential
Demonstrable strategic approach to procurement and best practice.
Well developed communication skills and an ability to liaise with internal customers and external suppliers and contractors in a professional manner.
Ability to manage, motivate and empower staff.
Negotiation skills.
Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook to an intermediate level.
Ability to organise and prioritise workloads.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels.
Good interpersonal skills.
Proactive and the ability to make decisions.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Desirable
Good financial understanding.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
Willingness to travel to suppliers and other sites both in the UK and occasionally overseas.
