Description

A Renewable Energy operator is looking for a Mechanical Site Engineer to focus on the Substation package works starting October 2015 to work for 12 months (+ extensions) on a freelance contract.



The Mechanical Engineer/Commissioning Engineer will represent the Client during the Installation, and Commissioning of the Mechanical systems on the Offshore Substation Platform.             



Responsibillities:



- To ensure that site based activities are efficiently managed by the Contractor.        



- Review of technical procedures and documentation, analysis of Mechanical installation and testing methods and procedures. Supporting inspection and monitoring of Mechanical installation and commissioning activities.



- Checking of as built documentation prior to issue ensuring correct and complete information is present. Review and assess suitability of the Contractors' site installation documentation and Method Statements.



- Provide oversight to ensure effective monitoring of site construction works and the Quality Test Plan.



- Inspect workmanship and report observations to Package Lead. 



- Contribute to the development of safe working and testing practices.



- Review, inspect and confirm acceptability to the appropriate standards of mechanical systems on the platform, to include all transformer piping, oil water separator etc. identify changes/improvements where appropriate.



- Accurately record testing results and deviations from contractual standards.



- Contribute to and maintain an ongoing list of Quality Issues.         



- Complete Daily Report, identifying all tasks throughout the day   



- Provide support to site teams with resolution of any technical issues.         



Previous Experience/Qualification:



- At least 5 years’ experience as mechanical engineer within construction, installation and commissioning of Mechanical systems.



- Expert knowledge of national/international codes/standards.



- Familiarity of P & ID's.



- Qualification and certification in Mechanical Installation and Commissioning.



- HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.



- Previous site management experience required. Some previous project management experience desirable, including management of risk, HSSE awareness, quality, cost & time.



- AutoCad experience an advantage.



- Awareness of Contract Management within fixed price contract.



- Experience of international and intercultural working environments.
