Description
Stores Technician working in the Dudley area of Birmingham, West Midlands.
The Opportunity:
You will support the Installation and Maintenance Manager and other members of the management team to achieve business objectives through effective operation of the stores and testing and set up of equipment.
The Stores Technician shall be responsible for the efficient organization of the stores at the Depot, including goods in, dispatch and operation of the warehouse, and undertaking testing of hardware and setting up equipment ready for installation.
Skills and Experience:
- ONC/OND qualification or equivalent (or relevant experience in lieu of) in an appropriate technology/engineering/business discipline
- IT literate, able to operate standard software packages (eg MS Office) and interest and aptitude in learning new software packages
- Experience in working in a warehouse or engineering environment, working to strict Health and Safety procedures including COSHH assessments, manual handling techniques, risk assessment, toolbox talks
- Some experience or understanding of technical equipment
- Experience of direct customer interaction with operational staff
- A full UK Driver's License
Role and Responsibilities:
- To effectively deliver stores and depot operations to meet client and customer requirements
- To undertake set up and testing of equipment to ensure it meets technical requirements, recording any issues encountered
- To work closely with customers, suppliers, couriers and delivery companies at an operational level as part of the despatch and goods in processes to ensure efficient operation
- To always work in accordance with Health and Safety policies, procedures and processes, including working in accordance with risk assessments and COSSH assessments
- To understand, and work in accordance with product approvals including Home Office Type Approval (HOTA)
- To contribute towards the achievement of contract requirements and achieve customer satisfaction and meet key performance indicators (Service Levels/KPI's) for each customer
- To contribute to continuous improvement to improve service and profitability
- To share and learn from best practice across similar activities throughout ITMS and beyond
- On occasion deliver/collect equipment to/from customers or suppliers premises or roadside locations
Location: Dudley, Birmingham, West Midlands
Duration: 3 months (initially)
Salary: £15 per hour
