Description
  • The Commodity Manager will manage commodity level supplier/vendor categories and will support Sr. Strategic Sourcing Managers and Sr. Sourcing and Supplier Managers on major strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • They will execute category/supplier strategies and implement best practice category management and strategic sourcing initiatives as defined by the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager and Sr. Sourcing and Supplier Manager.
  • The Commodity Manager will develop RFP/RFX documents, conduct supplier identification and outreach, and provide support to business for commodity vendor/category purchases
  • Communicates with Procurement Team Leadership, Sr. Sourcing Managers, and Sourcing Managers regarding categories, suppliers, and assigned tasks.
  • Presents information as needed to leadership, peers and teams.
  • Supports Sr. Strategic Sourcing Managers and Sr. Sourcing and Supplier Managers on major strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Spend analysis; Supply market analysis; Supplier analysis; RFI/RFP build; Negotiations (including auctions), Contracting, Outsourcing/offshoring, Product Lifecycle Management, and Building Business Cases.
  • Track and manage category performance relative to targets and report to reporting team.
  • Contributes ongoing category management for commodity vendors/categories including supplier performance reviews, monitoring of contract T&Cs, executing contract amendments, and resolving supplier issues as needed.
  • Compiles research on suppliers, supply base, and market conditions to determine when to re-visit the Strategic Sourcing process to help identify future sourcing practices.
  • Implements leading category management and strategic sourcing best practices.
  • Responsible for conducting sourcing initiatives for commodity vendor/categories and supporting business stakeholders in the self-service purchasing of commodity vendors/suppliers
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Skills Required
  • 1-3 years strategic sourcing experience within a technical field.
  • Knowledge of developing business strategy, writing business cases, conducting market intelligence research, and participating in negotiation strategy and tactics.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling and various cost evaluation methods (TCO, ROI, Payback period, etc.).
  • Knowledge of procurement tools, automation, and operations including experience building RFP/RFX (eg eRFPs, eAuctions and other eTools).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly and concisely communicate information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Entry level contracting skills knowledge of contracting principles, laws, regulations and industry standards.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or 4-6 years equivalent work experience may be considered.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with contracting for services and licensing
  • CPM preferred.
  • 3+ years relevant strategic experience in technology.
