Description

A leading operator within the renewables energy sector is looking to resource a Site Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical installation and commissioning works for an onshore windfarm project in Wales.

Locations: Wales
Duration: 8-12 months (extension possible)
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description:
  • All Environmental, Health and Safety incident and near miss reporting via the RE to the PM in a form and timescale required by the PM.
  • Instructions to stop the Works, except for earlier stated reasons, must first be discussed with the Project Manager and the resulting Project Manager directions followed. Only where a very definite breach of the specification or Contract occurs can the Works be stopped.
  • Alerting the PM to any perceived risks as they arise eg Early Warning and contributing to Risk Review meetings.
  • Assistance as required by the PM in reviewing and preparation of all documentation (letters, reports etc) relating to claims, variations etc whether received from the Contractor or to be issued by the PM.
  • Under the control of Project Engineer assess design changes where requested and advise the PM.
  • Assessing and auditing Contractor's documentation - eg H&S Plan, QA plan, and under the control of the EST test/commissioning plans.
  • Ensure that the Contractor fulfils the requirements of the Owner's Specification/Works Information on Site eg
    • Technical spec
    • Quality control
    • Health and Safety
    • Environmental good practice
    • Project plan
    • Housekeeping
    • Checking the electrical & turbine contractors are working safely according to method statements which have been submitted prior to the commencement of work.
  • Carry out a sufficient sample of spot checks on the installation of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with designs and specifications.
  • Carry out measurement duties and keep records where these are required by virtue of the payment mechanisms of the contract.
  • Keep works undertaken records on a daily basis and in sufficient detail to deal with the requirements of the contract.
  • Providing assistance as required by the PM in dealing with complaints from any party including the public.
  • Promptly identify and notify the Project Manager on any issue that may arise or have the potential to arise during the course of the works and shall provide assistance in resolving any issues.
  • In association with the RE, coordinate and control third party contractors who are working on Site for the client. The interface with the Principal Contractor will also need to be carefully coordinated.
  • If required be responsible for taking minutes at the monthly meetings and forwarding them to the PM for issue. The PM will chair all such meetings.
  • Adherence to an agreed correspondence register where all incoming and outgoing correspondence is logged and saved. Written communications will be undertaken on an agreed basis with the PM.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Previous experience working on substations for an onshore windfarm.
  • Previous experience of installation and commissioning on an onshore windfarm.
  • Must come from an electrical background.
