Position: Oracle DBA
Type of Position: Contract
Location: Charleston WV
Work Week: 40 hour

General Description:

This position description is for an on-site DBA who would provide users a stable, secure application environment.
Responsible for designing, building, administering, and maintaining Oracle relational databases and assisting the application development teams in optimizing schema design and SQL statements.
A successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as a member of a dedicated team, with limited supervision.
Must be able to perform daily administration of database systems to prevent outages and plan for optimized system resource utilization.
As a team member, they will contribute to architectural direction and provide the expertise for design and performance of the database structures, assist with database performance tuning, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues.
A strong understanding of SQL standards, diagnostics and performance tuning is a must.
This position will be on-site working with the customer's IT staff.

  • Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, or related field plus 5 years of experiences an Oracle DBA
  • Able to work as a team player in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Built and support of Oracle 11g/12c databases on Linux/Unix based systems.
  • Knowledge of RHEL/Oracle Linux required.
  • Experience with very large, high transaction rate OLTP systems.
  • Proficiency in database installation, creation & upgrades, building RAC clusters & standby database and object management will be a plus..
  • Performance analysis using ASH/AWR/OEM and Performance tuning & query refactoring
  • Knowledge of Oracle SQL, PL*Sql and Shell Scripting (Korn, Bash or Perl) required
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, SAN/NAS and networking
  • Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL preferred
  • Experience with database support in IaaS or PaaS preferred.
  • Experience with Data Guard and Golden Gate or SharePlex software preferred.
  • Exposure to Hadoop, MongoDB, NoSql and Docker technologies will be a plus.
