Description

We are looking for a Windows/Vmware Server support Specialist for a 12 month contract.

Windows estate hosts about 400 line-of-business applications, as well as extensive SharePoint, Exchange and Citrix environments.

Job Description.
This role will support business-as-usual server, directory, and virtualisation operations. The role will report to the Server Team Leader, located within IT Service Delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities.
1. Installation and configuration of operating system images.
2. Management of server virtualisation infrastructure
3. Management and maintenance of directory services
4. Troubleshooting of performance issues on Servers
5. Patching and upgrading of Operating System software
6. To assist in auditing and necessary reporting, as required.
7. Respond to and fix calls escalated within OLA/SLA.
8. Creation and maintenance of documentation, as necessary.

Skills Required.
Technical skills (Essential).
Excellent Knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2 & 2012)
Excellent Knowledge of Active Directory 2008 R2 (incl. Wins, DNS, DHCP)
Excellent Knowledge of VMware (ESXi 5.0, 5.5, 6.0), SRM
Good knowledge of Scripting, preferably PowerShell
Solid experience of troubleshooting in a Windows/VMware environment
Knowledge of Dell Servers (tower, rack & VRTX), Open Manage
Essentials
Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM (2007, 2012).
Experience of Server Performance Monitoring
In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware and Software Technologies
Excellent knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware and Software best practices
Technical skills (Desirable).
