Content Designer/Central Government/Digital Design/User- Centred Design/Contract

My client a, leading Central Government organisation, are looking for a Content Designer to join their expanding team in Birmingham. This is an initial 6-month contract, paying up to £375 per day (outside of IR35).

Content Designer will be responsible for identifying and matching user needs to appropriate content formats, then creating and iterating content to support the delivery of user-focused services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating content and transactions in line with clearly identified user needs
  • Iterating content, design and processes in response to user testing
  • Identifying and working effectively with subject matter experts, stakeholders and partners to deliver relevant content that is part of a clear, joined-up customer journey
  • Ensuring all content assets are accurate, clear, accessible, optimised appropriately (eg for search), and meet relevant design, style and brand guidelines across formats and devices
  • Advising on content for different audiences, including formats for displaying content to the user, and presenting ideas to Product Managers
  • Analysing behaviour of target audiences using research, analytics, search engine analysis and other data; applying this to shape the content proposition
  • Working with colleagues to monitor and test the performance of content and services, interpret feedback and iterate accordingly
  • Ensuring appropriate policy and legal fact checking of content
  • Promoting user-focused content design

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Adept at providing simple, clear content to communicate complex issues
  • Expertise in designing digital content for different audience groups, purposes and formats
  • Evidence of user focus with strong experience in user-centred content design
  • Ability to support the content lead and wider content team with 2i tasks, peer reviews, presentations at 'show the thing'
  • Excellent knowledge of the Internet, key web usage and technology trends, optimising content for search (SEO) and web analytics.
  • up-to-date with the latest content trends, ensuring that our solutions respond accordingly
