You will be part of the College's IT Support team and provide first line technical support to students and staff members with a particular focus on multimedia resources. Day-to-day you will perform routine multimedia, IT and network support tasks and contribute to the smooth running of the college's IT network and systems.

Contract Type: Intermediate level apprenticeship

Salary: £10,500 per year

At the end of your apprenticeship you will of achieve the nationally recognised ITQ qualification, as well as valuable work experience, that will provide you with the best chance possible of being offered a full-time role within the college or any organisation requiring ICT support. Once fully qualified, you can earn between £19,000 and £23,000 per annum.

Below is a summary of your key roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide first line technical support and advice to students and staff members with particular focus on multimedia and photocopying resources.
  • To take responsibility for all multifunctional devices (MFD) & printer related stock, including carrying out routine maintenance.
  • Maintain and manage multimedia projectors and MFDs across the college.
  • To monitor and provide monthly reports on stock levels and status and condition updates to the Network Manager as required (toners, papers, damage etc.)
  • Perform routine ICT and network support tasks as directed by the Network and Systems Manager.
  • Facilitate the smooth running of the network by undertaking reasonable tasks as required, including some administrative tasks.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the curriculum/admin network in collaboration with the Systems and IT Support Engineers and Network and Systems Manager.
  • Provide support and maintenance for network hardware and software, including classroom support.
  • Provide relevant technical support for curriculum and college events, especially where multimedia and copying systems are concerned.
  • Support staff in the use of ICT and multimedia equipment.
  • Report faults to the Systems and IT Support Engineers and Network and Systems Manager as required.
  • Support and engage with in-house training as and when required.
  • Attend meetings as and when required.
  • To actively engage with the porterage of computer/IT equipment and consumables.
  • Administer and manage the printer and photocopier consumables which will require moving and replenishing media resources, toners, equipment and possibly other resources
  • Where required organising and facilitating engineers visits
  • Where require liaise with estates on issues as required by the Network and Systems Manager
  • Be aware of and comply with the policies and procedures relating to child protection, equality and diversity, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Undertake apprenticeship training and complete necessary coursework, documentation and assessments in order to successfully complete the apprenticeship qualification, ERR and may include Functional skills.

Skills Required

Willing and able to complete all learning and assessment requirements of the relevant framework. Able to establish good working relationships with staff, pupils, parents and outside agencies.

Qualifications Required

Hold GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent. Desirable: Some experience of working with ICT equipment

Ability to travel to work. Commitment to developing a career in ICT Support. Fully committed to team work and ethos of the college. Excellent communication and customer services skills.

Prior to interview you will be required to complete an online initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT. The results of this assessment may determine whether you are short-listed for an interview. Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship
