Consultancy client of mine is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join their team on an initial 6 month contract.
Paying excellent daily rates!
You will be working on site in Sandyford with a client and there may potentially be some travel from time to time. (4 days every 90 days).
What they are looking for in brief is:
General solution architect (coming from a Java background).
Carry out research into Legacy systems
Recommend tools for use
PoC work
Present solution design that aligns with company's modernization roadmap
Will manage 1 - 4 projects for the client.
Technologies needed include (Sybase, PowerBuilder, ColdFusion, Java, Restful API's, Access DB apps, MS SQL, SSRS).
The more detailed version of what the requirements entail are as follows:
Practical experience with 10+ projects in relevant engineering domain
Good knowledge of architectural theory out of primary technology domain context bounds
5+ years' hands-on experience in relevant engineering domain
Strong experience with full life cycle of Agile software development processes, approaches and methods (SCRUM, XP, etc.)
Track of record of working directly with the customer (ie regularly facing the customer).
Technology and Business domain-specific knowledge as applicable
Considered as an advantage:
Experience with Oracle Hyperion Reporting server
Experience with MS SSRS
Ability to deep-dive in new technology and get familiar with it in short terms (and pass this knowledge to others)
Ability to think and design in cross-domain terms
Good general design skills, desire and ability to put pieces together
Ability to visualize things conceptually
Can work as Solution Architect, doing solution architecture design and review for small-to-medium size solutions (size is measured using the value to the customer, like number of integrations, number of transactions per sec, number of users, etc. are to be declared) based on familiar technology stack
Can create solution architecture documentation, work/feature-breakdown structure document and other related artifacts with deep technical details
Can manage the delivery of architectural POCs
Can produce coarse-grained estimations on the implementation of architectural assets
Has Expert level of Software Quality Control processes and SDLC
Able to follow, actively influence, enhance and define Software Quality Control processes
Is able to improve testing process and techniques on a project and establish them from scratch; including communication flows, tracking tools.
Pro-actively analyzes and measures current processes and practices and suggest/drive improvements to time to market/quality/cost
Utilizes metrics and KPI to make decisions and track project risks.
Presentation skill: ability to conceptually visualize things and deliver presentation to professional audience
Has good knowledge and understanding of one (1) business domain area. Proven abilities to quickly learn, systematize, and retain business knowledge.
Helps to evaluate team newcomers (in technology and architecture related matters) and direct them to fit customer' requirements
Constant self-education in primary technology domain - regular reading of the news, understanding of global trends, etc.
Hands-on and up-to-date experience with primary technology domain.
