Description
Our client are currently looking for an experienced Design Authority/Engineer to work on an initial 4 month contract at their site in London.
Applicants must have the following skills:
*Industry recognised qualifications relating to ingress protection and electrical safety
*Expert knowledge in existing UK standards and regulations
*Relevant Degree and/or higher qualification (typically engineering/science) or equivalent - it is expected this will be at least degree level
*Relevant professional operational experience
*Proven track record of working in this industry
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
*To engage with industry experts/expert bodies in relevant fields to identify requirements, specifications, legal constraints and limitations for a proposed under-pavement equipment enclosure for the mobile telecoms industry.
Contacts should include:
*Utility/civil engineering companies (Engage with consultants who have worked on large urban developments and understand presence of utilities in these locations)
*Civil bodies (eg, councils - regarding management of street furniture)
*Mobile radio network operators to ascertain what type of radio feeders, antenna systems and frequencies to be used
*Mobile radio equipment vendors regarding design, manufacture and operational performance of such equipment (including space and cooling requirements)
To use the findings, in liaison with in-house solutions design team to write and publish an RFI (Request For Information) to industry in order to get a response on the following:
* Feasibility of manufacturing using modern materials and manufacturing techniques
* Likely costs and likely timescales for design, delivery and implementation
* Significant limitations and risks potentially influencing design specs
* Outline of any existing solution potentially suitable for the requirement
To review the responses, and engage with design and operations teams in order to prepare a final RFP which should provide a solution for a future product launch.
To deliver and present full feasibility and recommendations report (feasibility and recommended approach - with resulting costs and benefits including:
* Development and maintenance costs
* Operational support costs to:
oinstall (using 3rd part contractors and 3rd party telecoms and radio engineers)
omaintain (using 3rd party and/or telecoms engineers)
oremove and dispose
* Confirmation of use cases and feasibility of deployment to required locations
