Description

  • Data & Reporting focus
  • 6 month contract
  • Brisbane CBD

The Business Analyst, will be responsible for analysing and transforming operational data into meaningful reporting outputs to assist the Leadership Team in making business performance decisions. The main purpose of this role will be to backfill an internal role whilst this person is allocated to a key project within the organisation.

Key activities:

  • Documentation of critical and future reporting requirements
  • Data analysis from multiple source systems, through warehouse and Front End BI & Analytical reporting.
  • Data transformation using SQL and other database tools.
  • Creation of regular and ad hoc reporting solutions such as dashboards, scorecards and other reports as required
  • Data quality assessment

Key Deliverables:

  • Engage with business users to understand business requirements across Data Warehouse and Analytical platforms
  • Co-ordinate the development and enhancement of reports
  • Develop, manage, update and maintain the models, processes frameworks or tools to enable comprehensive analysis
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to leverage financial, commercial or operational improvements

Key skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrable skills in similar roles using reporting the following tools (but not limited to) SQL, SAP BEx, Excel VBA, BOBJ reporting tools e,g. Web Intelligence, Analysis for Office.
  • Analytical, conceptual, interpretation and problem solving skills that deliver commercial value
  • Skills in developing meaningful reports and presentations suitable for a variety of audiences
  • Skills in identifying, summarising, and presenting complex issues in a meaningful way to a range of internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Rail industry and/or asset intensive (mining, utilities, transportation) experience preferred.
