Description
Performs product design, bug verification, release testing and beta support on applications software projects which may require research and analysis.
May assist in performing on-site client work. Has technical and product knowledge to operate across multiple environments and platforms.
Major Responsibilities:
Performs complex product design activities on applications software which may require research and analysis. Performs design, implementation and maintenance of complex, multiple product modules/sub-systems. Researches and fully understands the business and functional requirements for a product, including business process flow, system functionality and performance criteria. Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems. Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits. Performs on-site client work on complex applications. Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

May receive general guidance for the accomplishment of short to medium term goals and operating objectives; plans and executes own work; decisions are made independently; may have accountability for leading or directing work or projects of organisational personnel; generally provides guidance and/or training to others.
Work Complexity:
Acts independently and exercises independent judgement and discretion within generally defined practices and policies to select appropriate methods or techniques for obtaining solutions. May act as an adviser to team members with day to day operations. Work is varied and requires frequent interpretation. Typically resolves complex problems which require deviation from standardized practices or precedent.
Knowledge/Skills:
Requires a broad range of skills within a professional discipline to effectively perform complex assignments; demands familiarity with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices. Generally requires experience in a related discipline.
Preferred Knowledge/Specialized Skills:
High technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. Expert analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level. In-depth experience in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. High understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. Recognised reference and central point for technical issues across groups and products. Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Advanced PC skills.
