Hi there! We're looking for a Product Engineering Manager to lead our growing product engineering team at Zapier. Interested in helping build the tool that powers automation for millions of professionals? Then read on…

Even though our job description may seem like we are looking for a specific candidate, the role inevitably ends up tailored to the individual who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if you're motivated by building effective engineering teams and are happy to roll up your sleeves and dive into code when needed.

We're a widespread remote team of 110+ people, located in thirteen countries, that think computers should do more work. For the past six years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We get together 2-3 times per year for a company retreat, and benefits include great healthcare, dental and vision coverage, 401k retirement plan with company match, profit sharing and 14 weeks paid leave for new parents.

We're not accepting applications from agencies.

How to Apply

We have a non-standard application process. To jump-start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out of the gate. Please make sure to answer each question.

Complete this form with answers to the questions below. Make sure each answer stands alone as we review question-by-question instead of applicant-by-applicant.

1. Tell us why you'd be a good fit for this role.
2. What do you think the fundamental purpose of a manager is?
3. What is your philosophy about management?
4. What do you think are some of the most common ways people fail at management?
5. How many people have you managed in the past? And what were your responsibilities managing them?
6. Tell us about the different types of engineers you've managed or worked with in the past. Which type best represents you?
7. Please share links to any public work (github, gitlab, personal website, etc.)
8. Do you miss doing individual contributor work as a manager?
9. What has been the most challenging problem you have faced as a manager and how did you solve it?
10. Optional: Share anonymously some demographic information ( about yourself to help us better track trends related to the backgrounds of candidates interested in working at Zapier in order for us to build a team that represents the users at Zapier and the broader world population.
Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
