Reqiva are currently recruiting for a HV Electrical Design Engineer to be based on site with our Client, a leading organisation in the Rail sector.

The HV Electrical Design Engineer will need to have strong electrification experience in outline and detailed design of rail distribution, substations and transmission systems. You will be based in either the Cheshire, Birmingham or London office.

Experience Requirements:
As an experienced HV rail design engineer you will have a proven and recent work experience in the traction and auxiliary power supplies associated with substation, switchgear, protection systems, short circuit/earth fault assessments, earthing & bonding systems and cable route management systems.

Minimum 5 years technical, commercial, and construction experience on rail high voltage substation engineering procurement and construction projects.
Shall have experience with LUL/Network Rail standards, procedures and performing electrical HV rail substation design and applicable substation calculations and studies.

Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Ideally you will be chartered by a professional body or Incorporated Engineer.

Main Duties:
Preparation of engineering outline and detailed designs/schemes, equipment specifications, engineering drawings and calculations/analysis for rail substation plant and equipment including substation configurations and layouts.

This will require the production of progressive conceptual, outline and detailed designs together with documentation and equipment technical specifications. Development of the infrastructure single line diagrams, equipment layouts & sections, cable and short circuit calculations, earthing design, Civil layouts/interfaces, transformers, batteries/chargers, and SCADA system. Preparation of protection settings report and test/Inspection/commissioning specifications for transformers, switchgear, protection panels and cabling.

Undertake client liaison and project management responsibilities, ensure overall design is compliant with Network Rail engineering specifications, and required standards.

- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly with our clients
- Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members
- Understanding of rail distribution standards and technologies
- Ability to read and understand rail network diagrams and plans
- Commercial awareness and previous experience in the involvement of the Project Delivery
- Customer and quality awareness
- Good standard of IT literacy - especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
