Quality Engineer

Plymouth location

Contractor requirement for 6 months

The primary function is to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System throughout the business, by maintaining and continually improving the QMS in line with customer and regulatory requirements.

Compliance will be demonstrated by means of collecting objective evidence and the monitoring and analysis of business data. The role requires an individual of integrity who will ensure the voice of the customer is represented at all times.

Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Maintenance of Quality Management System documentation and records to ensure conformance with ISO9001/AS9100 and company procedures
  • Collate, analyse and report performance data in weekly/monthly quality reports
  • Supporting the Quality Compliance Manager with the transition of the QMS to the ISO 9001:2015 and BSEN9100:2016 standards

Support to Avionics Business

  • Perform bi-weekly monitoring of CAA/FAA/TCCA Airworthiness Directives and assessing impact to site
  • Advise senior management of reportable incidents and liaise with regulatory authorities via CAA web portal
  • Liaise with BSI and regulatory bodies regarding audits and audit finding closure
  • Co-host 2nd & 3rd party audits on site
  • Support process owners with closure of non-conformance reports
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective/preventative actions
  • Plan and execute internal audits to AS9100 & EASA Part145 requirements.
  • Publish audit reports in accordance with company procedures
  • Administer the system for approval and issue of quality stamps
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) teams; represent the voice of the customer in decisions affecting quality and performance
  • Participating in document reviews and providing constructive feedback to document authors
  • Assist with responses to customer questionnaires/queries

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead an activity to rationalise company procedures.
  • Converting text based procedures to visual process maps where appropriate

Qualifications/experience

  • A demonstrable background of working in Quality Management is essential
  • Experience of AS9100 & EASA Part 145 very advantageous
  • AS9100C Internal auditor qualification desirable
  • Ability to effectively communication at any level in the business
  • Adaptability to work in either a team, or to work self-directed using own initiative
  • Use of common IT software including Microsoft Word/Excel/Access databases and SharePoint
  • Experience in the use of common Quality tools including PPAP and FMEA desirable.
