Description

We are recruiting for one of the nation's largest commercial companies who provide an extensive range of construction services including construction management, general contracting, design and build and preconstruction.

Design Manager Gatwick North terminal immediate start excellent daily rate 8 months contract role

The main duties of the role are to manage the detailed design phase of the project which, with negotiated forms of procurement, will involve tender management duties. You will be A key member of project team, chairing design meetings, provide monthly reports both internally and externally as part of monthly progress reporting cycle.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Fully understands the breadth of the job. Works independently and keeps up to date with modern methods of construction.
  • Support the design process including assisting in production of scopes of works for procurement purposes
  • Identify possible alternative design solutions or specifications
  • Review and co-ordinate team feedback ensuring all comments are issued to the lead designer for review and incorporation
  • Ensure drawings and specifications are approved, sanctioned and issued in a timely manner
  • Review and ensure that all drawings conform to company and statutory requirements and the Employer's design requirements.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and together with commercial team, quantify these at bid stage
  • Management and delivery of operations and maintenance manuals and any associated documentation.
  • To undertake technical reviews, legislative compliance checks and prompt and support financial review
  • Ensure design mirrors and satisfies the financial budget available, on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure all Designers understand and comply with their duties under the Construction Design & Management Regulations
  • Drive delivery of Zero Harm through implementation of the Zero Harm Journey plan
  • Demonstrate commitment to Zero Harm and encourage all in the team to Make Safety Personal
  • Promote the Sustainability Vision and Roadmap ensuring team members understand any sustainability practices relevant to their role and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Encourage and coach team members to develop their skills, giving regular feedback and providing challenging learning experiences
  • Ensure employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver excellence
  • Recruit and promote the best people available to meet business needs
  • Ensure all team members are fully inducted and carry out role specific requirements as defined in the Mansell Management System, identifying opportunities for improvement
