Description

Hello,

we're a small game studio from Russia/Belarus, working on our first project since a year. The game design and code parts are in a quite advanced phase, but we experience some problems with the graphical part.

We had a lot of artists, some on commission and some enthusiasts working with us, and therefore the visual part is a complete mess. We decided, recently to do a complete overhaul of graphics, and hire a single person to create a single and recognizable graphical universe.

That's why we need an experienced and versatile artist, that could create a style for characters, sprites, environments, menus and such.

About the game

We work on a tactical - RPG. During the adventure phase the player explore the world in 2D arts and dialogs.

The combat phase is a classical 2,5D turn per turn on a grid.

Exploration is a very important part of the game, so we emphasize on 2D locations screens, to give the player a sense of achievement when he discover a new place.

We work on Unity, and the game is designed for PC.

About the setting

(This is a small part of the game lore, sorry for bad engrish, it's a very fast translation)

Once upon a time there was a very curious god. He traveled a lot, saw thousands of places and marvels, but none of them fascinated him as much, as one thing, here on our Earth: The Metro.

Back to his divine place, he decided to create his own Metropolitan network. Bigger and better that anyone ever seen. Did that god understood that what he saw here was a mere transport system? Nobody's knows, but that's how the Metropolitan Worlds had been brought into existence.

There is nearly an infinity of stations connected by metro lines. So much that nobody could ever create a map of the metropolitan. Some stations may be similar to what we used to call a station, but other may defy any rule of logic.

Some of this stations are true cities, populated by ancestors of curious creatures that the god brought to his new world. Some of them are inhabitable, due to dangerous fauna and flora, hostile environment, or chaotic magic.

The god had forgotten about his toy since an eternity, but the Metropolitan is alive and prospers. Civilisations have rise and fallen, taking most curious shapes, due to the strange logic of this world.

Work Details

We need a graphical style for all the graphical assets, that will be followed by our graphists

As you can see from the setting, we're close to a multiverse setting, and that make it harder to keep thing coherent.

Our actual needs are:

  • Concepts of the 5 playable races
  • Concepts of battle sprites for each race
  • Concepts of 2D environment arts
  • Concepts of battle 2D environment
  • A pair of game mock-ups, that include battle environment, sprites and UI
  • A pair of pure art images, for global visual style and promo

(note: I understand that UI is a totally different profession, it's more about the general look of menus and icons, that the polished version)

Visual style

During the development we tried a lot of styles, from realism, to jrpg.

Actually, we're open to any graphic style, as long as it have a spark.

Later collaboration

We would be glad to have the person that created the global visual style work with us during the game development, on a regular or commission basis. If you come to love this project, we could try to associate (by shareparts or such)

Payment

I understand that this kind of work is quite expensive. Unfortunately were not Ubisoft, and the studio finances are quite bad at this moment. However we're in a advanced phase of negotiations with several investors, that's why I'm financing this work with my own money. So just write me which sum you find reasonable for that amount of work.

Misc

This is not mandatory, but if you speak russian, that would save a lot of my time from translating, and you from my engrish)
