Job Description

This organisation is changing the way it delivers technology services, moving away from a majority outsourced model to 'insourcing' and building internal capability. At the centre of this new model is the EUC Products team. This team is responsible for the strategy, design & build, operation and monitoring of the range of workplace technology products and services.

The Office Productivity Apps Manager is responsible for implementing the departmental application strategy, minimising the use of 'thick' client apps and moving to cloud based applications.

Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility for the Office Productivity Apps Manager include;
  • Informed selection of office productivity apps - ?based on user need and alignment with strategy, ensuring the right applications are being used across the organisation.

  • Application deployment management?- ensuring appropriate applications are available to users via existing 'app stores'.

  • Application management and configuration?- Ensure that all service asset and configuration items are properly controlled and that when required, accurate and reliable information is available.

  • Supplier management?, working with a small number of large key suppliers

  • Financial management?ensuring value for money is achieved.

  • Communications ?with the network product managers and the wider business

  • Test and Improvement- plan and schedule test and deploy releases working with the networks and software product owner to balance impact against need while protecting the integrity of the existing.

  • Organisational awareness - Have current knowledge of the technology strategy in Technology Services and ensure that the product team is aligned with that strategy.


The successful candidate will have extensive, demonstrable experience in
  • Managing a large estate of Windows applications.
  • Service operations of large scale enterprise systems
  • Working technical knowledge of Windows productivity software applications. This should include office productivity apps, project management apps and diagram and drawing tools
  • Good knowledge of Office 365 and G Suite productivity tools, including OneDrive, Sharepoint, Google Docs, Power BI etc.
  • Business Analysis experience to be able to identify the best application for a particular user need.
  • Working knowledge of application publishing through Microsoft SCCM Software Center, Jamf Casper, Microsoft Intune and other MDM products
  • Management of external outsourced suppliers
