Kira Systems is looking for candidates to join our Systems and DevOps teams. The core objective of the Systems Team is to keep our production environments secure and running smoothly; the DevOps Team's focus is presently on our deployment process and improving internal tooling. Both the Systems and DevOps team work together on tasks that will lead to greater internal efficiency and effectiveness in serving our clients.Security is critical for both of these teams, and it is a requirement that all finalist candidates pass background checks.
This position is remote, and we are seeking candidates in European time zones. We presently have team members in the UK, and would like to add to our group in the Europe.
We are looking to hire multiple candidates, and are particularly interested in people who fit one of the following areas:
- Candidates who are familiar with the constraints of working remotely with client environments, and with their counterparts in our clients' organizations. Familiarity with Linux on VMware, Docker, and PostgreSQL are a plus.
- Candidates who have experience with monitoring, metrics, and log aggregation systems. We want to build strong automation around our systems, and that is driven by the data collected by the monitoring & metric systems. Self-healing systems are our ultimate goal.
- Candidates who have a drive to automate the world -- once we understand how to do something, and why we do something, our goal is to ensure we capture that into automated processes.

Main Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and monitoring our production and development environments
- Availability for duty on our on-call pager system
- Occasional out-of-hours tasks
- Automating existing tasks, and improving existing automation
- Supporting and improving our application infrastructure in the cloud
- Supporting on-premise installations of our software
- Documenting incidents and responding to internal questions
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years experience in a role where Linux systems administration was a primary responsibility
- Familiarity with AWS (especially their API and their IaaS offerings)
- Fluency in SQL and familiarity with RDBMSs (especially PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts
- Fluency in scripting for automating tasks (especially Bash, Ansible, and Python)
- Personal technical projects are a bonus
